When Adam and I added Whisky (our dog) to the family, the truth is we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. For anyone who has ever owned a puppy you know that the first year is HARD. It’s GREAT, but it is HARD!!! When we got Whisky(in December during one of the coldest winters in Ottawa), I thought that one of the worst things about owning a puppy is the constant need to be outside in the freezing cold, in snow storms and in the rain.
Whisky is just about to turn 3 this year and the truth is, being outside in the freezing cold, snow storms and the rain with my dog has morphed into one of the best parts of having a dog and one of the best parts of my day. Of course, I prefer when the weather is nicer but I will take what I can get. Having Whisky has forced me to “GET OUTSIDE” and play with her every day no matter the weather. Whisky is happy to run and play with other dogs in the rain, in the snow and on the hottest days of the year (as long as she is near water that she can jump into to cool off).
Today’s post features some shots I took on walks with whisky in the cold and the rain this fall. A perk of our time outside is getting some great shots of the changing seasons.
Seconds before a down pour the leaves started to fall like confetti
As the rain lifted the sun peaked out highlighting the river and the newly turned colour of the leaves
